Let’s be real, the weather does whatever it wants. Sunshine is never guaranteed even if your date is smack in the middle of “perfect weather season.” That’s where a weather contingency plan comes in and why it’s one of the most important questions for your venue. See photos from a June wedding that had different plans for summer weather here.
So… what’s a Wedding Weather Contingency Plan?
Think of it as your “just in case” backup plan a solid strategy for when Mother Nature decides she is in a mood. It outlines what to do if rain pours, wind gusts, temps hit extremes, or a rogue Tennessee tornado rolls through (yes, we have seen it).
Bottom line the celebration should still feel like your dream day no matter what is happening in the sky.
The Good News? Mint Springs Farm Already Has You Covered
If you are tying the knot somewhere else, definitely chat with your planner and venue about what is possible when the forecast takes a turn.
But if you are celebrating at Mint Springs Farm, you can rest easy because we already have a full weather plan in place. Here is how we make magic happen even when the radar looks scary:
Eyes on the Radar Always
Our planning team checks weather first thing in the morning and keeps tabs all day long. We monitor multiple weather apps to try to find the most accuracy.
Ceremony Pavilion Superpowers
Our ceremony pavilion is the ultimate chameleon:
– Plexiglass panels pop in on the sides if rain decides to go sideways
– Sliding glass doors in the front protect the couple from rain and wind
– Views stay beautiful even during a rain shower
Outdoor ceremony vibes with indoor level security? A win win.
The Cocktail Hour Pivot
We make the call about cocktail hour three hours before the ceremony which is plenty of time for setup. If the rain plan kicks in:
– Cocktail hour moves indoors seamlessly
– Depending on guest count guests can mingle upstairs and downstairs
– If the skies clear suddenly we will reopen outside areas pass drinks and apps outdoors and keep the flow easy
Flexibility is the name of the game.
Keeping Guests Dry and Happy
Nobody wants to arrive at the ceremony soaked. Our team:
– Shuttles guests via golf carts from the parking lot
– Hands out clear top umbrellas which are cute and practical
– Makes sure the bridal party stays photo ready
Photo Options for Every Scenario
Rain can actually give you some seriously magical shots. But if staying dry is the priority:
– The ceremony pavilion and bridal suite porch are stunning covered options
– If there is a break in the weather we move fast to capture outdoor portraits
– What about extreme situations? You are welcome to return another day for photos on property
Your album will still be incredible, your photographer knows what to do!
And Fireworks Yes We Plan for That Too
Rain does not automatically cancel the sparkly stuff. Our planner stays in touch with the pyro team and:
– Adjusts timing to hit those “light rain” windows
– Keeps the show going whenever it is safe
– Same deal for sparkler exits – we’ll send you out in style if the drizzle is mild
Weather might be unpredictable… but your big moments do not have to be.
